Happy Hands Educational Products was established towards the end of 1995 in South Africa by Raymond Suskin. This was after identifying a gap in the market for high quality, affordable educational/craft products. A small factory was opened to manufacture such products.

The first product launched was modeling dough and within one year Happy Hands modeling dough was available in stores around the country. Over the next year additional products were introduced, such as various dough sets, finger paints, poster paints and more.

Whilst still manufacturing in South Africa, exports began to countries such as the UK, USA and Australia.

Over the years Happy Hands established itself as a household brand in South Africa.

In 2003, mainly due to a weakening currency, a decision was made to start moving production to China.

By 2004 all production had moved to China under Happy Hands (HK) Ltd and the South African operation focused only on sales and distribution.

In the coming years the international distribution grew and more focus was placed on licensed products which were manufactured for licensees around the globe.

In 2009 The Repco Group acquired the product portfolio as well as the “Happy Hands” brand from Happy Hands (HK) Limited. “Happy Hands” will continue to be a “house” brand for various art/craft and creative products that can be sold anywhere in the world, excluding South Africa, where there is an exclusive distributor.

The other parts of the product portfolio include primarily licensed creative products and premiums that we have developed and manufactured for licensees around the world. These licenses include, among others, Barbie®, Barney®, Noddy®, Totally Spies®, Spiderman® and Shaun the Sheep®.
We do not hold worldwide licenses for these products, but as they have already been approved by the licensor they can be sold to other licensees around the world (Subject to the approval of the licensor)
